Ski SeasonL'Oreade is located in the beautiful and breathtaking alpine surroundings of the Giffre valley in the village of Sixt Fer à Cheval. Sixt is less than an hour's drive from Geneva to the north and Mont Blanc in the south. With the 12th century town of Samoens ten minutes drive from the chalet. The ski pistes at Sixt are only a few minutes walk and the Grand Massif ski area, one of the most exhilarating ski areas in Europe, can be accessed from the new express lift at Samoens, 10 minutes away by the chalet's VW multi-seater. The location will provide you with a lot of excitement and variety. Not many places offer such a wide variety of skiing, and very few have such fantastic panoramic views over Mont Blanc. There's the spectacularly beautiful piste des Cascades, which takes you on a 14 kilometre descent from the top of Flaine through the national park of Sixt Fer à Cheval down to the village of Sixt and the bottom of which can be seen from the Chalet itself and is a 10 minute walk away. This is a blue piste, and so is suitable for even novice skiers. Our Chalet rental includes breakfast, dinner and tea-time snacks. Our prices include airport transfers and daily drop off and pick up to/from the Express lift for the whole party, making your ski and snowboard alpine chalet holiday easy and stress-free ski areas in Europe. Not many places Summer Season From May until November Chalet L'Oreade becomes self catering and accommodates up to 8 people, including children, in 5 bedrooms. Providing 2 bathrooms: 1 ensuite bathroom with shower and WC, 1 Bathroom with Bath and Shower and WC together with a separate WC on the ground floor. Chalet L'Oreade stands in its own grounds and has a young, south facing garden, part bordered by rocky outcrops, shrubs and conifers, with an attractive rockery to the front and a small lawn for sun worshipping and outdoor living (BBQ and garden furniture available), with a private car-park area. A new balcony and spectacular viewing platform adds to the persona of the Chalet, from which many beverages are consumed and philosophic contemplation can readily take place. Zen describes life in the chalet pretty well. And if weather permits Chalet guests can now enjoy al fresco dining in the spring, summer and autumn months. This area of the French Alps is renowned for its walking holidays, from a potter around the village and river bank, to a walk up to La Cascade des Rouget or exploring the mountains and lakes in the 9,200 hectare nature park. Arrive, park you car and you need never drive for the rest of the week - there are so many wonderful walks directly from the Chalet. The local boulangerie and Franc, who runs the local deli, will be delighted to supply your every needs from a bar of soap to the best Armagnac and there are several delightful French restaurants within walking distance as well. During your holiday in our mountain chalet, you can see wildlife including birds such as Buzzards, Kites, Golden Eagle and Bearded Vulture. You may also see Chamois, Ibex and Wild Boar, as well as the Marmots. L'Oreade is situated in the delightful Giffre valley surrounded by stunning mountain views. Geneva, Annecy and Chamonix/Mont Blanc are all within the hour and there are also an enormous number of scenic trips to enhance your summer chalet holiday in France including Thonon and Evian, on the southern shore of Lake Geneva, both well worth a trip for shopping and sight-seeing. Summer activities include: white water rafting, mountain biking, paragliding and there are numerous opportunities for painting or sketching some wonderful scenery. |
